Before adopting pet what I must do first?

Pet is not a little toy but a living thing. Like adopting a new kid we need a strong determination of responsibility. Before you take a dog home ask yourself these questions; Can I be with this creature till its last breath? Can you provide him all the needs? Is your home environment suitable for this dog?

If any of these answers is no than mind as well give up adopting a pet. Most important thing people forget is the cost of having a pet. Other than their food (dog feeding), there is vaccination, rabies vaccine, and other illness treatment, beauty treatment, pregnancy and birth, etc. all adopters must take serious consider these expenses and take responsibility. If you live with a family you must gain all of their approval, dogs do have feelings and they do know when they are not welcomed. If your entire family member approved it is wise to divide the role of taking care of the dog.

NOTE: These people should NOT adopt

1. People who think dogs are expensive pretty toys
2. People who think dogs are always kind, pretty and obey to your orders
3. People who never thinks dogs can get ill and will grow well without care
4. People who never realize dogs can die
5. People who are too lazy to give constantly care and interest
6. People who leave the dog alone in the house all day
7. People who only thinking about giving the minimum expenses on dogs welfare

Choosing the Right Dog First choose the right dog

-Dog breeds that need beauty treatment: Poodle, Schnauzer, Wire Fox Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel, Papillon,

-Dog breeds need hair cared for(everyday): Schnauzer, Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Shihtzu, Lhasaapso

-Dog breed with a lot of shedding: Chihuahua, Miniature Pinscher, Pug, Dachshund, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel

-Dog breed with little shedding: Poodle, Schnauzer

-Has outer fur and inner fur so a lot of shedding and needs everyday brushing: Pekingese, Pomeranian

? Long haired or Short haired? Long haired breeds are beautiful but if you are lazy about managing it, the dog can turn into a hideous rug. If you are such a person short haired breed will suit your living. If you wish to have constant touch with your dog and if you enjoy spending a lot of time with your dog long haired breed suits you.

Choosing female or male?

-Male: They are cheaper than female but has an aggressive character and may go around the room and display space by peeing. When matured they might get on people or furniture and do mating action.

-Female: Easy to take care of since there are quiet in character, but when they are in heat there will be extra cleaning needed. Some people spray them to solve these problem but some people find this cruel. It’s a still a debate where it is right or wrong, but I personally advice spraying to prevent from people abandoning their dogs. If you are not willing to breed and not sure if you can handle these behavior problems I suggest spraying.

Choose dog breed that match your life style

-if you are jogger and wish your dog exercises with you: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Poodle, Pug, Boston Terrior, and Pomeranian

-if your dog is just going to stay inside the house: Maltese, Yorkshire Terrior, Schnauzer, Lhasaapso, and Pug

-if you work at home: Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrior, Pug, Maltese, Poodle

-if you have a lot of visitors: Lhasaapso, Beagle, Schnauzer, Pekingese, Pomeranian, Papillon

-if you are getting your first dog: Poodle, Yorkshire Terrior, Maltese

-if you are looking for additional dog into your family: Pekingese, Dachshund, Shihtzu

 

Families with children or elderly

-In families with children: In a family with newly born or toddlers should be careful what character the dog has. Even if your dog is small sized you must exclude dogs with biting and spring out at people, sometimes a obeidient and gentle large dogs could be more suitable in such families.

-In families of elders: There are dog breeds with less need of exercise, these breed will be suitable.
